Testicular Cancer Symptoms

The exact cause of testicular cancer is not known. This is the most uncommon type of cancer in men. The common testicular cancer symptoms are:
1. Swelling or pain in the testicles. The pain might make a person uncomfortable but it.s not severe.
2. Lumps in the testicles which may or may not be painful.
3. Enlargement of the testicles
4. Pain in the lower abdomen, groin or back
5. Swelling of the scrotum. A fluid might get collected in the scrotum.
6. Excessive development of male breast tissue.

The testicular cancer might spread beyond the testicles to other regions or the lymph nodes or lymph glands. Advanced testicular cancer symptoms include:
1. There might be a lack of energy, sweating for no reason, fever or illness.
2. Breath shortens and there could be a pain in the chest due to coughing.
3. Headache and confusion.
4. Pain in the back might occur if the lymph glands are affected.
5. If the cancer cells spread up to the lymph nodes then the testicular cancer symptoms are, cough, difficult to breathe and swallow and a swelling in the chest.
6. A kind of testicular cancer symptom is when hormones are formed by the testicular cancer in the blood. This might lead to swollen or tender breasts in men.

There are certain other symptoms which are similar to symptoms of testicular cancer. They are:
1. Hydrocele: This is a painless built up of a fluid which may cause the groin or the scrotum to swell. The swelling might be uncomfortable, but it is not painful.
2. Varicocele: This occurs when the valves inside the veins prevent blood from flowing. A vein in the scrotum gets enlarged and twisted which is visible. It causes a feeling of discomfort and is heavy. Variocele usually develop slowly. Infertility is also a common symptom. A lump might develop in the testicles which is usually painless.
3. Spermatocele: A coiled tube which is located behind each testicle may contain a cyst which is sperm-filled. It feels like a firm lump in the scrotum.
4. Orchitis: The testicle might get inflamed or infected by a virus or bacteria. This condition mostly occurs in men suffering from mumps.
5. Epididymitis: A long, tightly coiled tube which lies behind each testicle might get infected and inflamed. This kind of symptom is usually caused due to bacteria.
6. Inguinal hernia: When a loop of intestine enters the inguinal canal in the groin, it may cause inguinal hernia. The symptoms are there is a sharp pain in the groin which could aggravate if one bends or lifts something.

There are different types of testicular cancer. The testicular cancer symptoms are:
1. Germ cell tumors secrete high levels of human chorionic gonadotropin hormone (HCG). This hormone stimulates the development of breasts in men. Breasts become tender or grow due to the abnormal secretion of HCG.
2. Leydig Cell tumors and Sertoli Cell tumors are the other two types of testicular cancer. These tumors produce androgen which male sex hormones, and estrogen which are female sex hormones. The secretion of estrogen may cause growth of breasts in men and libido i.e. sexual desire may get decreased. If over production of androgen is there then it might lead to the growth of facial or body hair at an early age.
