Stomach Cancer Symptoms




A stomach cancer is the growth of abnormal cells. Mostly the symptoms are not present in the earlier stages of stomach cancer. A stomach cancer spreads quickly specially the liver and the lungs. In the beginning the stomach cancer develops from the cells. As these cells multiply, the tumor grows up to the walls of the stomach and in later stages it may also cross the walls and affect the other organs of the body.

The initial stomach cancer symptoms are:
1. Burping and acidity.
2. Feeling full immediately after having little amount of meal.
3. Feeling tired and unwell
4. Blood clots
5. Nausea and heartburn
6. Difficulty in swallowing food
7. Feeling anemic (which is a loss of red blood cells) due regular bleeding of the tumor.
8. Feeling of discomfort in the abdomen, especially above the naval.
9. Feeling full very often.

Advanced stomach cancer symptoms

Other advanced stomach cancer symptoms are:
1. Losing one.s weight and also losing one.s appetite is a common stomach cancer symptom found in most of the cases and prolongs for a long time.
2. A kind of fluid is formed in the abdomen which is called as ascites. This leads to a feeling like there is a lump in the stomach.
3. Some stomach cancers bleed but the person suffering does not vomit. Rather the blood passes through the digestive system.
4. Pain in the stomach or in the middle of the abdomen which might be mild and become severe gradually. This pain might keep a person awake during nights as it keeps on growing.
5. Blood in the stool or black colored stools is a symptom of stomach cancer which causes blockage and thereby spreading to the other areas in the body. Sometimes bleeding goes unnoticed.
6. The most common stomach cancer symptoms are to bloat mostly after eating.
7. Excessive bleeding also leads to anemia in most people suffering from stomach cancer. Vomiting occurs as there is a blockage in the passage of food.
8. Another important stomach cancer symptom is constipation or diarrhea.

At the later stages of stomach cancer wherein, the cancer may spread to any other parts of the body and the other organs particularly the esophagus and the small intestine. Symptoms that are identified are like blockage of the esophagus, jaundice, enlargement of the liver, hole in the stomach wall, mass on an ovary. Another stomach cancer symptom is a sharp pain the stomach which doesn.t go away. Doctor might feel a mass when abdomen is pressed.

Further, in the advanced stages the symptoms of stomach cancer might also include malabsorption of iron and malabsorption of vitamin B12, which occurs due to a lack of stomach acid. This may lead to vomiting huge amount of blood. Bones start becoming weak and may lead to bone fractures too. Another symptom of stomach cancer may include the enlargement of the liver with skin turning yellowish in colour and cancerous skin nodules.
