Sinus Cancer Symptoms




Sinus cancer arises from the lining of the sinus, which is a tissue called as mucosa. It is caused when a bacteria blocks the sinus cavity. The bone could itself be the origination of the sinus cancer. Initially the sinus cancer symptoms are ignored for a long time. The very common and early sinus cancer symptoms are:
1. Nose bleeds
2. Pain in a tooth or one ear
3. Obstructed nose also called as sinus congestion that will not get better and becomes worse.
4. Pus coming out of the nose and runny nose which is frequent.
5. Sense of smell decreases or becomes weak.
6. Cough and mucus. Usually blood is seen in the mucus. There might be excessive coughing in the night.
7. Sneezing and headache which normally starts after a bad cold or immediately after a cold.

Advanced sinus cancer symptoms are:
1. Numbness in cheek or pain due to the cancer invading the nerve.
2. Excessive and continuous tearing if the cancer presses on the tear duct.
3. If the eye muscles get affected, then it may cause blurry or double vision. Eyes become sensitive to light and eyelids also swell.
4. Cheek or nose may bulge out.
5. The upper teeth may get loosened or there might be a change in the look of the teeth when jaws meet and bad breath
6. There might also be loss of hearing if the Eustachian tube is pressed by the sinus and also change may happen in the mental status.
7. If the cancer spreads to the lymph nodes in the neck, it may cause a lump or swelling in the neck.
If there is a space between the bones located behind the cheeks and nose, then it.s called as Paranasal Sinus.

The common paranasal sinus cancer symptoms are:
1. Sinuses get blocked and do not get cleared and remain for a long time.
2. There is a constant pain behind the nose or in the upper teeth.
3. Swelling around the eyes. There might be total or partial loss of eye sight.

The other paranasal sinus cancer symptoms include:
1. Numbness of the cheek, the upper lip, the upper teeth or the sides of the nose.
2. Nose bleeds, discharge from the nose, lump or sore in the nose
3. Changes in speech
4. Dull headache and double vision. Persistent pain or ache in the forehead.

Few other symptoms of sinus cancer are:
1. Facial pain and swelling of the face
2. Changes in speech or altered speech and difficulty to open one.s mouth.
3. Loss of upper teeth
4. A lump anywhere in the face, nose or the roof of the mouth.
5. Problems in breathing, ringing in the ear, or trouble in hearing.
6. Swelling may be found in the cheeks, under the chin and the back of the neck
7. Difficulty swallowing, moving or lifting one.s shoulders or turning the head.
8. In more advanced stages the sinus spreads to lungs, liver and bone.
