Lung Cancer Symptoms




Lung cancer symptoms are due to the direct effects of the tumor, or due to the disturbances of hormones or blood which are caused by the cancer.

Lung cancer symptoms are as follows:

1. The most common symptom of lung cancer is a cough which does not go away and becomes worse with the passage of time.

4. Difficulty in speaking.
5. Fever which could be due to high production of white blood cells too
6. Swelling in the neck and face is also a common symptom of lung cancer
7. Feeling of tiredness
8. The lymph nodes or glands also get swollen and enlarged
9. Feeling fatigue
10. Problems also occur in the nails
11. Paralysis and numbness

Symptoms of Metastasis Lung Cancer and other types:

Metastasis lung cancer in the adrenal glands and liver does not cause any symptoms. However, Metastasis lung cancer in the bones causes acute pain in the bone mostly in the thigh bone, backbone and the ribs. The lung cancer symptoms while affecting the brain are loss of vision, with severe headaches. There is also a loss of sensation in the body. The symptom of metastasis type of lung cancer also leads to changes in behaviour, memory lapses. If spreading to the other parts of the body then it may cause jaundice, fractures in bones and clotting of blood.

The paraneoplastic type of lung cancer causes changes in the production of hormones thereby regulating the functions of the body. Typical symptoms of this kind of lung cancer include, breasts in males get enlarged, pain in the bones and the joints. There might also be an infection or inflammation in the brain. Another kind of lung cancer symptoms which are rare are, lump in the salivary gland, one tonsil, lump in the breast and protruding eyes. The other symptoms include a feeling of vomiting and nausea, seizures and restlessness.

Other lung cancer symptoms when the circulatory system gets affected are a clotting of blood in the veins and the arteries which affects the circulatory system. Some kind of material might also get deposited on the valves of the heart.

Another kind of lung cancer symptom is when there is a greater or over production of adrenal hormones which causes loss in weight; muscles become weak, and complain of high blood pressure and high or low blood sugar levels.
